NATA stands for National Aptitude Test in Architecture. The exam is conducted by the Council of Architecture. Students become eligible for a 5 years Bachelor of Architecture program through this entrance examination. The exam is conducted twice a year in July and April. NATA scores are considered for many private and government Universities. It is conducted online. The score of NATA is accepted by a total of 355 colleges and universities in India offering courses in Architecture.
NATA Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
There is no age limit to apply for the NATA examination.
Number of Attempts
There is no limit to appearing in the NATA examination.
Eligibility for Application
Candidates must have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and also must have at least 50% marks in aggregate of 10+2 level examination.
Candidates must have passed the 10+3 diploma examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject with at least 50% aggregate. No direct lateral admission is allowed at any other stage of the B.Arch course based on any qualification.
International Baccalaureate Diploma passed/appearing, after 10 years of Schooling with 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination
Nationality
- The candidate should be a citizen of India.
- Candidates of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) are also eligible for admission.
NATA Reservations
NATA does not have any reservations for exams as NATA does not conduct counseling for admission in colleges and universities. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC-NCL category or PwD shall be provided with a relaxation of 5% marks in total aggregate in 10+2 level.
NATA Paper
The NATA paper comprises Part A and Part B.
- Part A has two sections of Mathematics and General Aptitude. There are 20 questions for the Mathematics section for 40 marks and 40 questions for the General Aptitude section for 80 marks.
- Part B is of Drawing which has 2 questions for 40 marks each. So Part B is 80 marks.
The exam duration is 3 hours and there are Multiple-Choice type, Multiple Select types, Preferential Choice type, and Numerical Answer type.
NATA Qualifying Cutoff
You need to secure an aggregate of 25% in Part A and Part B. The overall qualifying marks in NATA will be based on post-exam statistics as per the decision by the council.

NATA Syllabus
- Mathematics- Algebra, Logarithms, Matrices, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry, 3-Dimensional Coordinate geometry, Theory of Calculus, Application of Calculus, Permutation and Combination, Statistics and Probability.
- General Aptitude- Analytical Reasoning, Architectural awareness, Identifying commonly used material and objects based on their texture, visualizing three-dimensional objects through two-dimensional drawing, visualizing different sides of three-dimensional objects, Mental Ability, Imaginative Comprehension and Expression, Verbal Reasoning, General Awareness of national/ international architects and famous architectural creations.
- Drawing Test- Understanding scale and proportion of objects, geometric composition, shape, building forms and elements, aesthetics, color texture, harmony and contrast, Conceptualization, Sketching, Drawing of Abstract and Geometrical Patterns, Union, Subtraction, Rotation, Surfaces and Volume of 2D and 3D objects, Creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and forms, generating plane, elevation and 3D views of Object. Perspective Drawing, Sketching of Urbanscape and landscape, everyday today furniture, equipment from memory.
Exam Day Guidelines
- Printout of Downloaded Admit Card of NATA.
- Original proof of identity which includes Aadhaar, Passport, Driving License, and Voter ID. You can bring any one of them.
- You are only allowed to bring pen, eraser, pencils, color pencils, Crayons.
- You are not permitted to carry any Instrument including scale.
- The late entry of candidates will not be permitted in the examination hall.
NATA Application
- First, sign up and log in in which you need to feel Nationality, Category, Disability, Birthdate, Email, Mobile.
- Fill the online application form.
- Pay the Application fee.
- Confirm Form Submission.
The application fees is-
- Rs 2,000 (for General and OBC candidates) .
- Rs 1,500 (for SC, ST, PwD, and candidates).
- Rs 4,000 for both sessions (for General and OBC candidates).
- Rs 3,000 for both sessions(for SC, ST, PwD, and candidates).
- Rs 3,050 for both sessions( for foreign nationals/kashmiri migrants).
Scanned copy of the candidate’s signature and photo only in jpeg.jpg format with a maximum size of 30 KB and 100 KB respectively. Qualifying exam certificates, Caste certificates, and disability certificates should be uploaded in pdf formats.
NATA Exam Centers
The exam centers are in the states of Andaman and Nicobar, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
