After class 10th, life becomes completely different. You will be expected to be more focused and surer about your career. The first thing your relatives will ask you when they meet you are about your plans for your future. Hence, you have to become extremely responsible in this part of your life.
Once you have cleared your first major examination of your life, that is, boards, you will enter into the transition stage of your life. The major Confusion that a student might face in this stage are, firstly, which stream to choose, secondly, which course to study, thirdly, which college to apply for, fourthly, which internship to choose, and the list goes on.
While it is possible that you get overwhelmed by these responsibilities, here are some major things you must keep in mind while you are at it:
1. Never lose faith in yourself
You will feel like the entire universe wants you to fail, but this is the process that makes you strong. “GROW THROUGH WHAT YOU GO THROUGH”. It is very important that we know how to deal with failure before expecting success.
2. Make research your hobby
Once you get complete exposure to the real world, you will know that wherever you go, you will have to face competition. Be it an internship or scholarship for a course, students will face stern competition, and it is not compulsory that your merit will always get you through those situations.
In those situations, the only thing that will make you potentially differ from the others is your research. Wherever you apply, there will be that single answer or gesture which will work as a bonus for you and the only way to achieve that is through channelized research.
3. Know yourself
Whatever will interest you at this time of your life will decide your future life. Instead of jumping on to all the opportunities that come to your doorstep right away, try looking for opportunities that interest you. Understand yourself and compare your interests with their utility in the long run.
4. Social media platforms
If you have access to the internet, the first thing you must do is create an account on productive social media platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, etc that will give you a good knowledge of global workspaces.
LinkedIn is an app that lets you connect with employers, employees, students, professors, etc. Twitter keeps you updated with the trends and current affairs; it is also a very good platform for sharing your opinion with the world.
5. Own your originality
We all are flawed in some way or the other but how we deal with our flaws makes us different from the others. When you are getting into a field, it is not mandatory that you will be the best person in that field.
However, the only way you can make yourself the most approachable is by being unique, being different from others. What the world wants is not the best but the most unique.
6. Groom yourself but without losing yourself
Be it dressing in a more professional manner, focusing on your accent, or anything you are doing to be more adaptable to your student or working life, remember to hold on to your most real version of yourself.
Grooming yourself for your own adaptability and comfort and changing yourself to meet the expectation and standards are two entirely different things and the latter must be avoided in all circumstances.
